Hey guys! Today I’m doing yet another book review, this time, about a book called “The Hate You Give.” The Hate You Give is a book by Angie Thomas. The book has won awards and is loved by many people. Here is my honest opinion.

I read this book shortly after reading another book from the same author and I must say, I love this book. It is about a black girl named Starr whose life got turned around when her friend died. She struggles to get justice for him because of the stereotypes and racism around them.

The book doesn’t have much of a storyline, and it doesn’t have a “happily ever after” either. Instead of having that, we just speculate Starr’s journey in fighting for justice, and the rest of her life afterward is not talked about much.

The way the author wrote this book shows how many black people or people of color are treated in our world. Thomas’ writing really captures the moment and emotions of the characters and makes you feel as if you were there and feeling what the characters are feeling. The book is very deep, and we get a journey through Starr’s mind, and we get to experience everything she does.

The book is very strong and contains certain content like swearing, smoking drinking, racism, interracial dating, etc., so I would not recommend it for people under about 10 years old. Overall, I love this book as it brings light to an issue that has been around for years. If you like The Hate You Give, Angie Thomas also wrote another book called On the Come Up, which I will also be writing a review for soon. I hope you enjoyed this review. See you next time! :)
